Randomness and then some..

We were sitting on low couches, right opposite where the blasts took place last Saturday, sipping on our drinks, weird music playing in the background taking us into a tizzy of randomness (Yet again!!) ; seeing the world go by; TV reporters reporting the scene a week after; sitting there; music getting more and more random.. This is a bit of the conversation and it just got weirder after that...

Ada: There is no cause and effect to it
Me: Of course it is always based on cause and effect
Ada: sometimes I feel we are just a piece in the jigsaw puzzle...waiting to be solved...a part of the larger puzzle (okay she dint say the last bit :P)
Me: Hmmm, there is no jigsaw, I think we are a part of a bigger picture
Ada: The food is really good here!!

(By now both of us had realised the music and the ide had taken its toll on us and we were being completely random...trying to make sense of whatever we were saying..n both of us knew it was nonsense)

And so we paid the bill and left...

Its something unpredictable...

Another turning point;a fork stuck in the road.
Time grabs you by the wrist;directs you where to go.
So make the best of this test and don't ask why.
It's not a questionbut a lesson learned in time.
It's something unpredictablebut in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs and still frames in your mind.
Hang it on a shelf
In good health and good time.
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial.
For what it's worth,it was worth all the while.
It's something unpredictable but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

(music break)

It's something unpredictablebut in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.
It's something unpredictablebut in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

I heard this song after a very long time...it was playing on the radio in the morning while I was on my way to work, before Bank of America had taken over that company and I had reached office...and this has been on my mind since then...

Okay...cut to sometime in early December...Charni Road, our second abode after Sundance :)

The place where we grew thick, cooked the countless meals, ordered the countless meals, chatted away the night sitting by the window, while all three of us struggle to enqueue our song on "the playlist"...varying from bizarre Punju numbers (i dont know why I insist on listening to Mika when I am drunk...well doesnt that explain the punju in me!!) to Kid Rock, MLTR to the Eagles, the AIESEC jives to anything under the sun cos the married woman insisted that she had the best taste...

It was on one such night after sitting till very long... The gujju was by the laptop... Mallu was by the window stubbing her last and I was somewhere trying to make conversation about how lucky we were to have found with eachother in Bombay (I am guessing thats what we were talking about, cos on such nights the conversation always used to steer in that direction...now alcohol does that to you :P) and then Gujju caught us unaware...

"Guys I dedicate this to you"

And yes we were an eclectic bunch :) ...a punju, a Mallu and the Gujju (i can almost hear the Gujju screaming...aye I was only brought up there, I ama full on Maharashtrian!!) okay okay we give it to you...Maharshtrian Gujju...

So what do you expect...three girls, spending girlie time together, sappy lyrics, high on life, high on alcohol, looking at eachother, giving the "awww" look and the reactions

Gujju was still by her seat..looking at our faces, waiting for our reactions
Mallu got up to get her next smoke and fix our round of drinks (she was a pro at it)
and I was sitting there wondering what happened to the conversation!!!

So the song ended, we hugged and we were back to being our ususal selves...That was a moment :)

Cut to the present..
Mallu is happily married and in the States
Gujju is in Mumbai, not in Charni Road but :(
And I am back to Punju land and loving it :)

This was long overdue...had been wanting to capture it for my own self and for the greater good for a long time :)

Cheers to the Sundance musketeers :)

World economics changes blah blah blah...

Okay so I accept that I didnt know that
  • Merill Lynch has been aquired by Bank of America
  • Lehman Brothers has filed for bankruptcy

I mean ya it sounds a little uncool in the corporate world but really now if I get to know two hours later(probably it was a few more hours more than that! but still) how does it matter?!?!?

My sister who is an employee of Bank of America, India gave me a call andstarted excitedly talking about the happenings of the corporate world and tells me "beta paper nahi padhte ho kya!!"

Okay if the profession that I am in, I should have known but its okay right...nahi pata chala nahi pata chala...Not that I am going to sit in a board meeting of either two and make a difference to world economics...maximum what I will do is form an opinion and again try and act pseudo - intelligent...and that can also happen five days later...so for news like this for me its not the immediacy but how pseudo intelligent I can sound when pseudo people (no offence meant there!!) around me will discuss it!!

So I will form an opinion now and bullet it here for my reference and for the greater good (if it changes the face of world economics...u can never say =) )

Heres to the pseudo opinion!!

Cheers!

The world is coming to an end tomorrow while I will be in office...

I can see the "world coming to an end" business is reallly bothering me! I mean I am still up and writing when I should be fast asleep...well no it isnt reallly bothering me but wat if it really is coming to an end??

The profession that I am in makes me think there is obviously some publicist at work in some corner of the world.. I think being in the profession that I am has given me a false hope for all the disturbing things that I read through...somewhere at the back of my mind I start thinking "there has to be a publicist who pitched this story to a journo who found it interesting enough and now its disturbing everyone" (this is an side!)

Okay what if I believe the world is coming to an end at 12:30 tomorrow...I will be in office just half an hour away from lunch break and then the dude is going to press the switch to create the moment that was right after the big bang, when the universe was formed blah blah blah

So if it has to happen at 12:30 tomorrow, there are a couple of things that I think I should bullet again..

The pros of it happening at 12:30
  • If it is at 12:30 exactly then I can escape the long call I had to sit on and be a silent spectator to:)
  • I wont have to go for gym and instead would be able to chill with a friend of mine who is leaving for Bangalore
  • I wont have to clean my cupboard

Well I am sleepy.. droopy - eyed! Lets hope I get to sleep well and get to book my tickets for my trip to Amritsar (wheeee looking forward to that one :)!!)

For further details on the big bang experiment..pls visit the link below and I will go and sleep

Cheers to a post after 12:30 pm tomorrow (I know I will be attending that darn call)
